Document 01
Privacy Policy
This policy covers Mainspring One for iPhone and Mac, this website, and support communications. For personal information we actually receive, the controller and provider is Mats Petter Wilke, Sweden, trading as Mainspring One. Contact: webmaster@mainspringone.app.
01Information you choose to store
You can create and manage workshop records in Mainspring One. Depending on how you use the app, these records may include:
- customer names, customer numbers and contact details;
- watch, movement, calibre, serial number and ownership information;
- job intake, estimates, status, service steps, notes and history;
- parts, suppliers, inventory and compatibility information;
- photos and other images you attach;
- prices, costs, fees, revenue, profit and exchange-rate information; and
- templates, company profile details and app or workflow settings.
You decide what information to enter and are responsible for its accuracy.
02Local storage
Work data is saved locally in the app database on your device. Mainspring One does not operate a separate developer-controlled server for customer, item, parts or workshop records.
03Nearby Transfer and Transfer & Backup
Mainspring One does not automatically sync its database between devices. Records remain in the local app database on the device where they are created until you choose to export or transfer them.
Nearby Transfer lets you send a selected customer job, restoration item, customer or part directly between a nearby iPhone and Mac. Related customers, images and supporting work data can accompany the selected record. The transfer is encrypted, goes directly between the devices and is not routed through a Mainspring One server. The receiving device presents incoming content for review and acceptance before saving it.
Transfer & Backup can create a complete library file or a Today’s Work file. A complete library file can include customers, items, parts, images, settings and other supported records. A complete library import replaces the target library, avoids duplicate copies and creates an automatic safety backup first.
Today’s Work contains supported records and images created or changed during that day. Its import adds new records and applies a transferred version only when it is newer; newer local edits are kept. Deletions are not included. Use a complete library transfer when the receiving device must become an exact copy of the source.
You choose where to save or share a transfer file. Available destinations can include Files, iCloud Drive, another compatible file provider, external storage or USB. These are user-initiated transfers rather than live sync. Storage and transfer providers process files under their own terms, and Mainspring One does not control copies kept outside the app.
04Photos, camera and files
Photos are added only when you use the system photo picker, choose files or take a photo. On iPhone, the camera is used only when you choose the camera option. On Mac, the app can read files you select through the system file picker. Images you attach become part of the relevant local record. They leave the app only when included in a Nearby Transfer, transfer file or export that you choose to send, save or share.
05Exports, backups, imports and email
Export and backup features run only when you choose to use them. CSV and PDF files can contain customer and workshop information. A database backup can contain the database, images and supported workflow settings. Treat these files as sensitive business data.
Customer communication opens a draft in Apple Mail for your review; Mainspring One never sends the message automatically. Once a file is exported or an email is sent, it is handled outside Mainspring One and must be managed or deleted where it was saved or sent. A complete library import replaces the target library; the app creates a safety backup before that import. You should still maintain separate, current backups in a location you control.
06Exchange rates
When exchange-rate fetching is used, the app requests euro reference rates directly from the European Central Bank’s public Data API. A request contains the supported currency codes and a date range. It does not contain entered amounts, customer details, item details, images or notes. Mainspring One derives additional conversions for the selected currency from the ECB’s euro reference rates. Those derived conversions are calculated in the app and are not rates published directly by the ECB.
Like other internet requests, the ECB and its security infrastructure receive technical connection information. The ECB states that, when protection is activated, its security provider Myra may retain access logs for up to six months. These logs can include host, IP address, local timestamp, request method, requested URI and port, HTTP status, bytes sent, response time, TLS version, user agent, referrer, content type and Myra status. The requested URI contains currency codes and the query contains a date range.
Automatic exchange-rate fetching is off on a new installation until you enable it in Quick setup or Settings, and it can be turned off again in Settings. This choice controls whether the app makes automatic requests, but it does not prevent the ECB or Myra from retaining technical logs when a request is made. ECB source data is available free of charge and is provided for information only. The ECB strongly discourages using its reference rates for transaction purposes, and Mainspring One does not present them as accounting, tax or transaction advice.
07Subscriptions and App Store information
Purchases and subscription entitlement checks are handled through Apple StoreKit and the App Store. Mainspring One receives the subscription status needed to unlock features. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Apple may provide developers with sales and performance reports in accordance with Apple's terms.
08Support and diagnostics
If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, message, screenshots and diagnostic context. Support correspondence is used to answer your request, troubleshoot problems, protect the service and meet legal obligations.
Mainspring One does not include third-party usage analytics or advertising tracking. The ECB/Myra access logs described above are technical connection data used to deliver and protect the external rate service; Mainspring One does not receive or use those logs for analytics or tracking. Apple may separately provide crash, performance, App Store or TestFlight information according to your device settings and Apple's policies.
09This website and cookies
This website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace automatically receives basic technical and site-usage information, which can include IP address, browser, device, language, timestamps, viewed pages and interaction data. Essential cookies may be used to operate and secure the site. If optional analytics or other non-essential cookies are enabled, they remain off until you allow them through the website's cookie choices.
Squarespace processes some information for its own purposes and under its own privacy and cookie policies. The pricing page does not use IP-based location; you choose the App Store country or region shown there. Mainspring One does not use information from the app database for website advertising.
10How information is used and the legal basis
Where we receive personal information, we use it only as needed to:
- provide the app, website and support you request;
- verify purchases and maintain app functionality;
- protect the app, website and users from faults or misuse;
- improve reliability based on support and Apple diagnostic information; and
- comply with accounting, consumer, tax or other legal requirements.
The legal basis is performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in support and security, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where applicable, including optional website cookies.
11No sale, advertising or profiling
We do not sell personal information. The app does not use customer or workshop data for advertising, cross-app tracking or automated profiling, and it does not send that data to advertising networks.
12Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you delete them, replace the database with an imported backup or remove the app and its local data. Removing the app normally removes local app data from that device. Backup and export files stored elsewhere are not removed when the app or its local data is deleted.
Deleting an item, customer or part affects the local database on that device. An older backup can still contain information that was present when the file was created. If you later import that backup, the older information may be restored or combined according to the import option you select.
Direct support correspondence is normally deleted or anonymised within 24 months after the last contact, unless it is still needed for an unresolved request, security incident, legal claim or legal obligation. App Store sales and accounting records are retained only for the period required by applicable tax and accounting rules. Squarespace and the ECB/Myra infrastructure apply the retention periods described in their own policies and service documentation.
13Security
The app uses Apple platform protections and system file and photo pickers. Nearby Transfer confirms the first connection with a code shown on both devices and encrypts the transfer. No system can guarantee absolute security. Protect your devices, backup destinations, exported files and transfer methods with appropriate passwords, access controls and safe storage.
14Processors, services and international transfers
Apple provides the App Store, StoreKit, system file and sharing services, and optional diagnostic services. Squarespace hosts this website. The European Central Bank provides euro reference-rate data and uses Myra to protect its public web services. If you save or share a transfer file through iCloud Drive, AirDrop, another file provider or external storage, that chosen method operates outside Mainspring One. Nearby Transfer operates directly between the participating devices and does not use an external transfer processor. Providers process information under their own privacy terms and applicable safeguards.
15Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy of information, and withdraw consent. These rights apply to information we actually control, such as support correspondence or website communications. Most app records are controlled directly by you on your device and in files you create.
To make a request, email webmaster@mainspringone.app. You may also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) or the supervisory authority where you live.
16Children
Mainspring One is a professional workshop tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children through the app or website.
17Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when the app, website, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate channel where required.
Questions about privacy or data handling can be sent to webmaster@mainspringone.app.
Document 02
Terms of Use
Mainspring One records customer jobs, restoration work, service details, parts, photos and business information. Repair and business decisions remain the user's responsibility.
01Acceptance and scope
These Terms apply when you download, subscribe to or use Mainspring One on iPhone or Mac, and when you use this website. By using the app, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy above. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
02Licence and permitted use
Subject to these Terms and any active App Store entitlement, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use Mainspring One for lawful workshop and business purposes on supported Apple devices linked to your Apple Account, as allowed by Apple's rules.
You may not copy, resell, sublicense, reverse engineer or attempt to bypass subscription, security or technical controls except where applicable law expressly permits it.
03Subscriptions, trial and renewal
Mainspring One offers monthly and annual auto-renewable subscriptions. Both billing periods provide the same app features. The App Store shows the final price, currency, billing period and any taxes for your country or region before you confirm.
An introductory 14-day free trial may be available to eligible new subscribers when the App Store confirms eligibility. If offered, the trial automatically converts to the selected paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled through your Apple Account subscription settings.
Apple handles payment, cancellation, subscription management and refund requests under App Store rules. Cancelling stops future renewal and normally leaves access available until the current paid period ends. Use Restore Purchases with the Apple Account used for the subscription when needed.
04Access after a subscription ends
Full editing and subscribed features require an active entitlement. If the subscription expires, your data remains yours: the app continues to provide a data summary and a way to export your data. Resubscribing can restore full access, subject to the app version and platform requirements then in effect.
05Your records and responsibilities
You retain responsibility for the information you enter and for:
- having a lawful basis to store and use customer information;
- keeping records accurate, complete and appropriately protected;
- obtaining any permissions required for photos, messages or shared reports;
- checking estimates, prices, taxes, accounting and exchange-rate results;
- reviewing customer communications before sending them; and
- deciding whether app information is suitable for a repair or business decision.
06Professional responsibility
Mainspring One is an organisational and documentation tool. It does not provide watchmaking, safety, legal, tax, accounting, valuation or financial advice. You remain responsible for inspection, diagnosis, estimates, repair work, quality control, customer approvals, regulatory compliance and final decisions.
07Local storage and device transfers
Each device keeps its own local app database. Nearby Transfer and Transfer & Backup are user-initiated and do not continuously reconcile changes between devices. Nearby Transfer is intended for selected records. Today’s Work adds new records and applies only newer transferred versions, but does not transfer deletions. A complete library import replaces the target library and creates a safety backup first.
You are responsible for choosing the authoritative device, reviewing incoming or imported content, resolving existing-record choices, checking important records after a transfer and creating regular backups, especially before bulk deletion, device replacement or major system changes.
08Availability and updates
We aim to keep the app stable and useful, but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, permanent compatibility with every device or operating-system version, or continued availability of every third-party service. Updates may change, improve, replace or remove functions where reasonably necessary for security, reliability, compatibility or product development.
09Third-party services
The app depends on services supplied by others, including Apple App Store, StoreKit and the European Central Bank Data API. The website is hosted by Squarespace. File storage or transfer methods you select, including iCloud Drive, AirDrop or external storage, have their own availability and technical limits. Nearby Transfer also depends on the participating devices being able to connect. Third-party terms and privacy practices apply where a third-party service is used. We are not responsible for changes or outages outside our reasonable control.
10Acceptable use
You must not use Mainspring One to break the law, infringe another person's rights, distribute malicious code, gain unauthorized access, disrupt the app or its services, or store information you have no right to process. You must protect access to devices and exports containing customer or business information.
11Intellectual property
Mainspring One, its software, design, text, branding and original content are owned by the app provider or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the app to you. You retain your rights in the records and content you enter.
12Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mainspring One is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not promise that all calculations, imported information, exchange rates, reports, suggestions or status indicators will always be complete, current or suitable for your particular purpose. Always review important records and decisions.
13Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app provider is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, loss of profits, business interruption, loss of customer relationships, or loss or corruption of data arising from use of or inability to use the app or third-party services.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights that apply where you live.
14Suspension and termination
You may stop using the app and cancel your subscription at any time through Apple. We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address fraud, unlawful use, security threats, material breach of these Terms or legal requirements. Provisions concerning ownership, responsibility, disclaimers and liability continue where their nature requires it.
15Governing law and consumer rights
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without depriving you of mandatory consumer protections under the law of the country where you live. Disputes should first be raised with us so that we can try to resolve them. If they cannot be resolved, they may be brought before the competent courts or consumer dispute body available under applicable law.
16Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the app, services, pricing model, security requirements or law. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, notice will be provided where required. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
17Contact
